What does the Bible say about angels?
In the Bible, angels are messengers and servants of God, called "ministering spirits" (Hebrews 1:14). Cherubims guarded the way to the tree of life after Adam and Eve left Eden (Genesis 3:24). Two angels led Lot out of Sodom, and an angel called to Abraham to stop him from sacrificing Isaac (Genesis 22:11–12). Jacob dreamed of angels going up and down a ladder to heaven (Genesis 28:12), and an angel shut the lions' mouths for Daniel (Daniel 6:22).
In the New Testament, Gabriel brought news to Zacharias and to Mary (Luke 1:19, 26). A multitude of the heavenly host praised God before the shepherds (Luke 2:13–14). An angel rolled back the stone from the tomb of Jesus (Matthew 28:2) and later freed Peter from prison. Michael is named as the archangel (Jude 1:9). The questions ask who saw angels, what they said and what they did.
